AloeVera -Side -Effects and allergies,are there any known severe side effets? AloeVera-Side-Effects are very minimal as compared to its Benefits and Medical Uses. There are no significant Aloevera-side-effects, noted both as an internal or topical agent, except in rare cases of Aloe latex allergy. However, excess consumption of oral Aloe Juice products (12-16 ounces per day) may lead to some reactions. However, the following reactions may occur as well :-
1.When Aloe is applied to skin prior to sun exposure, it may lead to rushes in the sun-exposed areas.
2. Using Aloe or Aloe latex by mouth for laxative effects can cause cramping or diarrhea.
3. People with thyroid disorders, kidney diseases, heart diseases, or electrolyte abnormalities may experience side-effects when they use oral Aloe without proper medical supervision.
4. AloeVera-Side-Effects may be noted by individuals with severe abdominal pain, appendicitis, ilieus (temporary paralysis of the bowel) or prolonged period with bowel movements when they take Aloe.
5. Using Aloe Vera in pregnancy as it can trigger uterine contractions.
6. AloeVera-Side-Effects may be experienced when there is an excessive ingestion of Aloe Vera. This may cause diarrhoea, hepatitis and kidney dysfunctions.
7. Other AloeVera-side-Effects may include: delay in healing of wounds, fluid imbalance.
Allergic to Aloe Vera
A lot of questions have been raised about Aloe Vera allergies.
Aloe Vera related allergies are rare. Though, hypersensitive people may experience some Aloe Vera allergic reactions mostly to using Aloe gel.
This may include: people with allergy to garlic, onions, tulip or other plants of the liliaceae family. This reaction may affect only the outer skin. It may appear in form of a rash or feel of itchiness.
To be able to detect this kind of reaction, it is advisable to apply a small amount of the gel on the skin before use and see if there is any irritation. Incases of severe allergic reactions, the use of Aloe gel must be discontinued.
Individuals using Aloe gel for prolonged period have developed allergic reactions, including hives and eczema-like rush.
If you see any of these reactions, discontinue the use of Aloe Vera and consult a medical practioner.
