They tend to bleed more are often open sores that do not heal. They grow slowly.
How Can Skin Cancer Be Prevented?
Avoiding excessive exposure to the sun can prevent most skin cancers. Much damaging sun exposure has occurred by age 20.

Examine your skin with a mirror or another person’s help.
